Faith In Action Sunday
This past Sunday was the Mount Kisco United Methodist’s annual Don’t go to Church Sunday. Also known as FAITH IN ACTION.
In place of attending church the congregation and community members (led by Pastor Matt Curry) volunteered at the Carpenter Ave Senior Housing site.
There were jobs for every age and skill level.
The jobs that were tackled today ranged from fixing and repairing the many feet of the old post and rail fence throughout the complex to planting and weeding flower beds.
All through the day residents came out to thank and admire the work that the volunteers did. Alex personally came out and said “thank you for all you are doing” the place looks amazing. Another woman named Mary said she “couldn’t believe that the kids gave up their Sunday to help them out”.
Personally I was pleased to see the positive turnout from the Mayor of Mt. Kisco ,Mike Cindrich to the Cub Scouts Pack 1. One of the highlights of the day was when everyone broke for lunch which was lovingly prepared by the “Church Ladies” (as they call themselves). All in all it was a great day for all involved. For more information about the United methodist Church and its program visit their site: http://mountkiscochurch.org/
