9-11 Artifacts on Display at the Library
During Sundays moving Remembrance Ceremony, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that he opened up the ‘warehouse where the artifacts from Ground Zero were housed’ and wanted to get them out to local communities so we can see the devastation first hand and possibly learn from the tragedy. New York Remembers: Memories and Artifacts of 9/11 are on loan to us from the New York State Museum and courtesy of Gov. Andrew Cuomo
This is a piece of exterior Aluminum Sheathing – notice the scorch marks on the top. There are some deeply moving pieces such as a pair of shoes covered in the grey dust that seemed to cover everything in lower Manhattan on that day and for many months that followed( the images of that dust is permanently ingrained in my memory). The exhibit will be at the Library until mid October .
