Quick Storm Tips

August 27, 2011

Here are some quick tips on getting your house storm ready. Besides the obvious things here are a few that you might overlook. If you have an awning you should tie it up so the fabric won’t tear.

Remove any planters from your deck railings and if you live in a condo or co-op take them off your terrace completely.

If you have a patio table with a glass top, remove the top and put it someplace safe. If you can’t remove the top turn it over on its side against the railing. The last thing you want is for a tree limb to hit it.

I put my patio chairs and BBQ grill under the deck to protect them. The storm has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm but that doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t take precautions. These types of storms tend to move slower which means we could be in for a lot of rain. Anyone who has lived in Kisco for a while will remember hurricane Floyd which was downgraded to a tropical depression by the time it hit us. It caused a lot of flooding and problems. Be safe people.

Thanks Jack – check out some recent photos of the flooding on our face book page. We just got power restored to most but not all of Kisco.
