Jacob Burns Tribute to Steven Spielberg
The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), a cultural arts institution with a dual mission of film and education, is presenting its 2011 JBFC Vision Award to Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg in recognition of his iconic career as a director, screenwriter, and producer. A Tribute to Steven Spielberg will take place on Saturday, September 17 as part of the JBFC’s 10th anniversary celebration.
“There is no greater story teller in film than Steven Speilberg, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to honor him with the JBFC Vision Award and to welcome him here on the occasion of our 10th anniversary,” said JBFC Executive Director, Steve Apkon.
“I have been following the JBFC story since before it opened its doors and am very excited to be there to celebrate a decade of films and education and to receive this award,” Mr. Spielberg says. “Not only is the JBFC a national leader in art house programming, but their education initiatives are extraordinary. Today, more than ever, our children must become visually literate, and the JBFC is leading the way. I am honored to and look forward to joining the celebration in Pleasantville.”
All proceeds from A Tribute to Steven Spielberg will benefit JBFC’s education and outreach programs.
