My Top 5 Eco-Friendly sites to help the environment
I am always on the look out for good web sites and organizations that can help me reduce my clutter, help the environment and save me money. Below are some sites that I have recently come across that I think you might like. If you have used any of these sites or know of additional ones that might be good – I would love to hear from you.
Throwplace.com – Their motto is Take what you need & Throw what you don’t. All you have to do is register with the site the things you want to give away and then they’ll hook you up with someone that wants the item. It’s simple.
Thingloop.com– Don’t buy, Rent or Hire – Borrow this is the Company motto. It is a service that enables people to share their physical possessions easily within their social network.
Dump&Run.com – This is a company started by a college student who noticed how full the dumpsters on campus were at the end of the school year with perfectly good stuff that the students either didn’t want or were too lazy to move. Now the stuff can be donated and the profits go to non-profit environmental and socially conscious groups. This is a win / win scenario – keeps stuff out of landfills and helps support groups in need.
Rentalic.com– Company motto – Make money by renting out what you own and Save money by renting what you need. All you have to do is register and then you can check out things that are available by region.
Freecycle.com– Changing the world one gift at a time is their motto. Freecycle is made up of groups with members all around the world. It’s a grassroots nonprofit movement of people who are giving stuff for free (no strings attached) in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.
Well those are my top 5 sites for now. Check them out – some might fit your needs better than others, but one thing they all have in common is that they help reduce the amount of stuff getting put into our land fills.
