Snow Lobster

January 28, 2011

I was in the mood for some fish for diner tonight so I stopped by Mount Kisco Sea Food. I felt like some shrimp and scallops but whenI got there I suddenly felt like LOBSTER.

I couldn’t believe my eyes there was a huge 10 foot snow sculpture of a lobster right in front of the store. I asked who sculpted the ten-legged crustacean on the front lawn. In unison the guys behind the counter pointed to Joe and Mike. I asked them if I could interview them for my blog and Mike McLouglin pointed to Joe Deluise and said he was the spokes person for the pair.

Joe told me that it took them over four hours to create the lobster. I asked them why they did it and he said it was really slow at the store this morning (I guess it was because everyone was shoveling out from the 12 plus inches Mother Nature dumped on us again) and they were bored. I asked what they used for color and he said it was a vegetable base fabric dye. Joe said in past storms the guys created a striped Bass and Orca. I asked why they decided to do a lobster this time and he said that the boss asked for a Lobster. He can’t wait until his Boss comes back tomorrow to see it.

Kids seem to really love the Lobster and can’t believe it is made out of Snow. I spoke with Amelia Bueti who said it was “cool” and she had never seen a lobster made out of snow before. Joe said he wants to create a Mermaid next snow storm. I sure hope he doesn’t get the chance to make a Mermaid this year – I think I have just about had it with the snow.
So if you are suffering from cabin fever head on down to Mt.Kisco Seafood on Lexington ave. and check out the “cool” snow Lobster.

Thanks for giving us a lift after all this snow. We all need to see something creative. Would you like to come and play in our condo and build us something interesting!! Good luck with the mermaid next week!!
