Race to Nowhere

January 3, 2011

Fox Lane High School will be showing the movie, Race to Nowhere on January 5th.

Race to Nowhere is a film about how schools and parental pressure
are affecting students’ mental and emotional well being. It makes the
statement that we are killing our kids, figuratively and sometimes
literally. It is in sharp contrast to the film Waiting for Superman. Race
to Nowhere is Vicki Abeles’ personal story, detailing her realization
that her own children were suffering, emotionally and physically. This
is the reason why she made the film.

This is a film that will challenge you to think about the pressures
facing students in American schools today. This movie has been
shown in school districts throughout the country and I am happy that
it is coming to Bedford.

Please attend the screening on January 5, at 7:30 PM, at the theater
at Fox Lane High School. Tickets are $10 in advance (purchased
online at http://rtfoxlanehighschool.eventbrite.com) or $15 at the door
that evening. Students are welcome to attend with their parents.
